Commemorative funerary head. Within the variety of styles of the Ashanti terracottas, this is situated in the group of pieces with a naturalistic tendency. The oval and somewhat flat face has shematic features: an ample forehead, half-open eyes and a small mouth. The features are simple and serene. Although these funerary sculptures are generic representations of the dead, certain details are added which lend individuality, as in this case the complex hairstyle, in the form of a crest at the top of the head and which then falls over the forehead.
