Master Mateo built a choir, located in the main nave, of which it occupied the first four sections. In 1604 it was demolished to leave room for the construction of a new seating. Many of the pieces were reused as construction and filling material in works that were being carried out in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela at that time, others were repositioned in new locations or were lost forever. It was not until the twentieth century, when several elements of the set were recovered, thanks to the archaeological excavations that were carried out in the basilica and on the staircase of the Obradoiro. In total, it could accommodate seventy-two capitulars.
