“The Maternity” in plaster by Manolo Hugué (Barcelona, 1872 – Caldes de Montbui, 1945) – the only of his early works that has still been preserved- was created between 1897 and 1900 in the house of Pichot family during one of his visits. Alejandro Riera –friend and protector of Hugué - first bought the sculpture, but later he traded it for one of Rusiñol’s paintings. Then the Maternity became part of the collection of Cau Ferrat. Later on a second piece “Flamenco dancer”, a charcoal painted drawing done by Hugué around 1906 – 1908 joined the collection. The painting is currently exhibited in the office of Santiago Rusiñol."
