Secciones conicas". Maquinaria was written by Tomas Vicente Tosca, distinguished mathematician, philosopher, cosmographer and architect. He wrote these nine volumes between 1707-1715. In them, he tackles a variety of scientific issues, such as arithmetic, geometry, optics and astronomy. This is the third volume, published by Antonio Marin in 1727.
The work is based on the encyclopedic courses published in Europe during the seventeenth century - didactic works that incorporated the emerging styles of the scientific revolution. The author compiled information from different authors both national as Juan Caramuel or Vicente Mut as international as the French Milliet Dechales.
The third volume deals with trigonometry, conic sections and machinery - it was the first treatise in Spanish to deal with conic sections, even though the author drew heavily from work by Dechales to create it.
