Schönberg spent some of the summer of 1907 in Gmunden am Traunsee; the family lived on the Engelgut (Traunstein 22) between June and September. Schönberg composed parts of his String Quartet No. 2, op. 10 and his Chamber Symphony No. 2, op. 38 that summer. The group included Alexander and Ida Zemlinsky (née Guttmann), Melanie Rice (née Guttmann) and William Clarke Rice, Robert and Artur Bodanzky, Irene Bien, Viktor Krüger and Richard Gerstl.
