Mato jacket | Nara cami | Jodhpur | Campaign belt

This Mato jacket was inspired by an Uzbekistani groom's wedding jacket from the 1800s. The silk brocade fabric was woven by power loom in Bangalore, India, and lined with silk habotai, cotton poplin and calico. The surface decorations include metal and plastic sequins, glass beads and embroidery with cotton thread, all completed in the Mumbai embroidery workshop. A braid, which Easton Pearson calls 'crocodile teeth', was made using a traditional hand-folding technique and used to finish the sleeves. All pieces of the jacket were assembled in the Easton Pearson workroom in Brisbane. The Nara cami was inspired by a Victorian blouse and the Jodhpur pattern was cut from a pair of military pants. Both inspiration garments were sourced from the Paris flea market. The belt was made in Brisbane using artisanal leatherwork techniques.
