Indianapolis, United States

This image shows the four armed god Vishnu in his avatar form of the fish incarnation, Matsya, conquering the Conch Demon Sankhasura. Vishnu is wearing pearls and a crown along with a yellow dhoti. The cloth is colored India yellow, created from the urine of cows who have eaten mango leaves. In his hands he holds the traditional attributes of Vishnu; the scepter, the lotus, the wheel, and the conch shell. The thin blue band of sky and clouds at the top of the page flowering trees, dark green background, and red border are typical of the Bilaspur style. (Amy Poster, 2012)
