One of the earliest on the Shah-i-Zinda burial and mausoleum complex is the mausoleum of Timur's niece-Shadi-Mulk-aka. There is truly an inexhaustible variety of artistic means in the art of Shah-i-Zinda ceramic facings. Terracotta with carved plant, geometric and epigraphic ornaments, covered with colored glaze, and majolica make up the lining of most mausoleums in this complex.
