Marie says: "Maximin's daughter, Brittany, initially contacted me to request a portrait of her dad. I was delighted when she sent me some really great images to work from. In some he was wearing a ppe mask and head covering but I just had to paint the one of him with his wonderful open friendly smile!

It's strange painting someone you have never met but I felt I got to know him a bit by working so closely on his image and when his daughter Brittany told me how he got to where he is I was even more impressed. Such a wonderful story of dedication and perseverance! As a result of painting the portrait we are now in touch and look forward to meeting in person in future months."

Maximin says: "I wanted to let you know, first hand, how much this painting means to me. I’ve been trying for a long time to put into words how touched I am at the portrait. You did an amazing job and I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been..... I honestly could go on for paragraphs naming every single part of the painting and telling you how well you did it.

But what matters more is what a warm feeling it’s given me. To go to work every day is great and I love every second but it can be stressful. To know that there are people out there appreciating and people like you who, not only appreciate, but go the extra 1000 miles to show it, is the best reward anyone could get.
