This work uses one of Akino's sons as a model. The composition is of a young boy who has taken buttercup flowers in his hand, in combination with refreshing young green leaves. The intent of the piece is not to express and recreate the luster and color of the skin, nor the build of the boy's body. Rather, it incorporates the motif of the boy as a mere inorganic component of the greenery.
