Mayor Thomas Horace Dudley

Former Mayor Dudley on horseback at a Santa Monica beach. In 1900, Thomas Horace Dudley was elected a member of the Santa Monica City Board of Trustees and served as chairman until 1907. Santa Monica city government underwent a major reorganization that year, and Dudley was elected mayor. In 1899 Dudley married the widow of the late Francis Ryan. The firms of Kinney & Ryan owned the Ocean Park Beach Tract, succeeded by the Ocean Park Improvement Company. Dudley sold his shares in this venture to Alexander Fraser, et al.
