The innovations of electronics in the 1960s led to the development of many talking toys. Mattel introduced its line of See 'N Say toys in 1965 and still offers them to this day. When toddlers interacted with the toy by pushing a button or pulling a string, they were rewarded with the words of their favorite storybook or cartoon character. The See 'N Say answered toodlers' needs to develop hand-eye coordination and to process sensory information--and their endless and annoying requests for repetition.
