mechanical toy: Hatching Dragon

Several toy reviewers considered Spin Master’s Hatchimals, a fuzzy, interactive toy that hatched out of an egg, as a must-have toy on 2016 and 2017 holiday wish lists. The Hatchimal made pecking noises and his eyes lit up to different colors to display its' feelings as he hatched out of the egg. Once out of the egg, the Hatchimal goes through three additional stages including "Baby," "Toddler," and "Kid." Parents waited for hours outside stores to buy Hatchimals, and others paid up to seven times the retail price online.

In 2019, Spin Master launched a Hatching Dragon based on the DreamWorks movie "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World." Like Hatchimals, Toothless, the dragon, came inside of an egg. To see Toothless, the user needed to agitate him enough to break out of his shell. After he hatched, the dragon played games like Hot Potato and Ask Toothless. Kids were thrilled with the opportunity bring the rich fantasy of the films into their own homes.
