Medal commemorating the Treaty of Münster

‘A single peace is better than countless victories,’ reads the Latin inscription on the medal that Amsterdam had struck to commemorate the Treaty of Münster. The city anticipated a new era of prosperity and wealth. Goldsmith Lutma thus had free rein to create a very special medal.
The gold medals were for the city councillors, the silver ones were presented as gifts.
