Weight 205.97g. obverse: relief profile of Alfred Nobel, designed and signed by Erik Lindberg 1902. reverse: muses of nature and science, plaque to J.J. Thomson MCMVI [1906]. The prize was awarded by the Nobel Institute, Stockholm "in recognition of the great merits of his theoretical and experimental investigations on the conduction of electricity by gases".
