Medal

Medal from the 1924 Democratic National Convention held at Madison Garden in New York City. It was the longest continuously running convention in United States political history. It took a record 103 ballots to nominate the eventual presidential candidate, John W. Davis. At the convention FDR nominated N.Y. Governor, Alfred E. Smith for President of the Untied States. It was FDR's first appearance at the Democratic National Convention since he was stricken with polio and marked a political comeback for Roosevelt who would be elected N.Y. Governor four years later.
