The Sala delle
Colombine is Hall 13 of the Museum of Ancient Art of Castello Sforzesco. It is
so called for the recurring motif that decorates the room: an emblem of a
colombina on a radiant sun and with the motto "à bon droit" printed
on the cartouche. This room was part of the private apartments of the Sforza
dukes and it was Galeazzo Maria Sforza who commissioned the decoration in 1469.
The room is today dedicated to Lombard sculpture of the second half of the
fifteenth century and houses a series of medallions depicting sacred scenes or
portraits of the ducal family, like this one with the profile of Bianca Maria
Visconti
