A medallion (clipeus) depicting Jupiter-Ammon (a syncretic divinity derived from contact between the Roman and the Egyptian cultures) that was part of the decoration of the imperial worship area of Tarraco.
It shows the iconographic attributes of Jupiter, the supreme god of the Roman pantheon (a mature, bearded man), and the Egyptian divinity Ammon (he-goat horns). Together with medallions depicting the Medusa and alternating with caryatides, they formed part of the decoration of the attic in the Tarraco worship area, imitating the lateral colonnades of the Forum of Augustus in Rome.
