Right: This medal was awarded Rigby for his service to the Union during the Civil War. The five pointed-star has the raised lettering, "GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC 1861, VETERAN, 1866". The reverse has shield and pin. Top of ribbon is attached to an Eagle perched on crossed cannons. On reverse is a pin.
