In addition to railway construction, companies were pioneers regarding social policies, seeking to ensure better conditions for employees and their families. For the purpose of providing health care, they created their own coaches for medical assistance services for railway workers. This coach was purchased for regular passenger service, but it was adapted for the company's internal services, providing medical care services, as a complement to that offered in the company’s various medical posts, but which proved to be insufficient due to geographic spread and company workforce size. The vehicle travelled on predefined days, locations and times and functioned like a doctor's office, properly equipped with a waiting room and doctor’s surgery.
