Medieval knight

This knight represents Domingos Joanes, buried in the Ferreiros Chapel (Oliveira do Hospital), as attested to by his military accoutrements and his coat-of-arms. This exaltation of military values within a funerary context, giving the knight a religious dimension, is characteristic of medieval spirituality. The sculpture, modelled in limestone, was recently attributed to Master Pero.
