Professor Giuseppe Fidecaro was, after Yves Goldschmidt-Clermont, Co-Chairman of the joint Scientific Committee set up under the terms of the 1967 Agreement concerning Scientific and Technical Co-operation between CERN and the State Committee of the USSR for the Utilization of Atomic Energy. This Committee was responsible for the co-ordination of the programme of co-operation in all its scientific, technical and organizational aspects including technical and safety standards.
