Melissa Tancredi represented Canada at the 2007 and 2011 World Cups, as well as the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. She played in over 100 matches for her country in an international career which spanned over 13 years, scoring 22 goals in the process.
Unfortunately for Tancredi, Canada didn’t make it past the group stage at the 2007 World Cup. She scored in the opening minute of their final game at the tournament, to give them a dream start in a must-win game against Australia, only for their opponents to net a crucial 92nd-minute equaliser. The result meant Canada finished third by one point, having been pitted against Norway and Ghana in one of the tournament's tougher groups.
