This image is literally "a [handwritten] page from" Richmond Barthé’s notepad of personal memoirs. It was written shortly before his death in 1989. The artist travelled widely, visiting, and living in several countries over the course of his sixty-year career. Judging by this particular passage, however, his childhood "memories" of living in New Orleans left a lasting impression on Barthé--one that the artist seemed to recall in vivid detail.
