The object comprises two electrodes in the form of rectangular, metal tiles placed separately on a plexiglas plate and connected to an electromagnetic field generator. The work is complemented by neon pipes that light up when brought close to the electrodes of either negative or positive value. The installation requires participation on the part of the viewer and, as a result, the gases become ionized through the electromagnetic field. Simultaneously, the arrangement of this physical event takes an artistic form, being instantiated in an object-painting, whose surface reflects and disperses light, depending on the manipulation of a neon pipe. The introduction of external factors within the object, whose shape clearly refers to that of a painting, places Kowalski's work in dialogue with the history of the painter's medium. [E. Jarosz]
