Methuselah 2.0 (2017) by: Misha Naiman, Gray Davidson with Majorelle Arts
Methuselah is a metal sculpture of the world’s oldest tree. The tree’s bark is steel, patinated to blue, brown & white, and seams of glass reveal propane flames within the trunk, reflected in a mirror below. The tree’s roots form benches on which Burners can congregate. Ancestry and evolution are central themes for the artwork, whose namesake’s rings and branches bore witness to the entire span of recorded human history.
