Metropolitan Cover

The artist based the design of this three-dimensional lightweight sculpture relief on a sidewalk located on Fifth Avenue, south of The Metropolitan Art Museum in New York City.

Mastrangelo created a realistic look for "Metropolitan Cover" by carving styrofoam blocks, brushing them with a thin cement mixture, then painting them with acrylic. She used grout, mud, and small stones to create life-like detail.
