The mezuzah case was made from silver wire with filigree-work by a Jewish goldsmith from Óbuda, which was the specialty of the Jewish craftsmanship of Óbuda. In feudalistic Hungary Jews could not be guildsmen, so they were excluded from most of the crafts. They were only permitted to deal with goldsmith works on two lordships with a special permission: in Bratislava and Óbuda. Salamon Böhm, who made this object was the member of the Jewish community of Óbuda.
