She is being pierced by 7 arrows, which represent the men in her family. Ybanez conveys a misunderstood strength. The text reads as, "My mother wanted to be a singer or a nun. Instead she got married and had 5 children and worked at a hospital. She is the shield to all arrows towards her sons."
