The work of SHIN Sunghy (1948-2009) has gone through several transitions: the experimentation on two-dimensional painting by means of expressive gestures in the manner of Abstract Expressionism; cutting it into mosaic pieces and attaching them; colorful canvas bands are continuously joined to one another. This work here is yet another attempt diverged from the previous phase marked by the connection of horizontal or vertical color bands. The support of her painting changed its form from the general rectangular one to the shaped one with which she had previously experimented from time to time.
