This microscope tube has the manufacturer's inscription: "C Reichert. Wien." At the top is the detachable eyepiece in a tube that slides inside another marked from 150 to 200 mm. At the bottom of the tube is a revolver allowing 3 lenses to be interchanged. The tube is attached to the pillar with a rack mechanism controlled by 2 side screws for coarse focusing. There are also 2 screws at the top of the pillar for fine focusing, one with millimeter markings. The arm is slightly concave and can tilt for the user's comfort thanks to an articulated screw system. The circular stage is located toward the bottom of the arm and has 2 plates: an upper plate rotates on a lower one to move the slide. Below is a moving device consisting of the condenser, iris diaphragm, and filter holder, which moves with a side screw. Lighting is provided by a plano-concave mirror under the condenser. The black horseshoe-shaped base is heavy enough to support the microscope when it tilts. The heel bears the manufacturer's name and the serial number: "C. Reichert, Wien. No. 67092."

Carl Friedrich Wilhelm Reichert (1851–1922) was born in Sersheim, Germany. He trained as a mechanic and acquired knowledge of industry. He traveled to various German cities and worked in Berlin for Siemens & Halske. He later worked with Leitz in the city of Wetzlar until 1876, when he set up his own business in Vienna.
