This ashtray was made by the Middleton Fireclay Works, Leeds to commemorate the centenary of the first commercially successful steam locomotive (the "Salamanca") which was patended by Matthew Murray in 1811 and commissioned by John Blenkinsop to run on the Middleton Railway.
