Midsummer

Margaret studied at the Slade and also taught life classes at Hammersmith School of Art. She had a keen interest in flower gardens and often painted outside. She strove always to create an atmosphere of light and colour by the most economical means. In this painting she evokes the soporific heat of a midsummer day to great effect.
