MINAUDIÈRE

A minaudière is a small ornamental container designed to be carried in the palm of the hand or positioned decoratively on a table. The addition of a fine chain handle on this design is unusual. During the 1950s etiquette demanded that women maintain high standards of grooming. This example contains a comb, mirror, rouge and puff, powder and puff, notepaper and a metal pencil.
