Almadén is a town known for its mines, which are its lifeblood and of which the miner is a symbol. Julio Antonio presents us a man in his prime, at the peak of his powers, which is why he models not only his head, but also his broad thorax, his broad shoulders and a muscular body with a strong neck; a powerful presence. The sculpture models each muscle to the point they seem to blossom beneath the taut skin that covers the internal structure of the figure. Text by Antonio Salcedo
