A wide variety of “miniature pottery,” referring to scaled-down versions of larger vessels, has been found, including tiny bowls, jars, vessels with handles, steamers, ladles, and mounted cups. Such items have been discovered in diverse locations, such as dwelling sites, ditches, storage pits, and shell mounds, but are most frequently found as grave goods in tombs. Given their impractical size for daily use, they are regarded as ritual offerings dedicated to gods or the spirits of the deceased.
