Mining festival

An important element of the Saarland mining culture was the diverse club culture which has had an especially major impact since the end of the 19th century. The associations promoted the sense of community of the newly formed housing estates and offered people the opportunity to actively shape village life. The members of the Geislautern miners' association celebrated the Prussian mining festival along with their families and friends in Kloppwald in 1910.
