Miriam Harris Goldberg
Publisher, Intermountain Jewish News
1916 - 2017
INDUCTED 1987
An editor and publisher, Goldberg played a strong leadership role in the Jewish community and represented the paper at important community events while also volunteering in many Jewish organizations.
Young Miriam grew up in East Denver and has never left. In the depths of World War II, Miriam and Max Goldberg took the reins of Intermountain Jewish News (IJN) in 1943. With Miriam at the helm, the paper has never missed an issue, and has served as a vital weekly news source for the entire region’s Jewish community. She has overseen every detail of the paper’s operations: from scheduling, printing, and typesetting, to negotiating printers’ union contracts.
“I’m right here with everything I love—the paper, the people, and all that I love doing.” —Miriam Goldberg
