Bronze mirrors were known in China already in ancient times. These products flourished in particular in the Han era and later in the Tang era. The item in question comes from a later period - the reign of the Yuan dynasty. Its obverse was polished and served as a mirror, while the reverse is richly carved. In the central point of the composition there is a lump with a hole through which a decorative rope is pulled. A genre scene has been carved around it, in a garden under a pine tree and with a crane by the river. The pine tree and the crane are symbols of longevity.
