An imitation mirror (domestically produced) after the style of Chinese mirrors decorated with animals and gods with a loop of ringed bumps, known as a particularly fine example. The dragon-like figure is said to be a mythical Chinese animal similar to an alligator but this icon was produced by imitating the figure of a divine beast. A large-sized exquisite mirror, the successful production of which attests to Japan’s attaining contemporary state-of-the-art techniques.
