Created in 1996 by the Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri, La Misatango is a setting of the mass, but in an entirely new form; through its use of tango melodies, the work weaves together sacred music and
the Argentinian tango music preferred by the wider public. Likewise, the choreography also weaves together two distinct strands. It is steeped in both profound spirituality and powerful sensuality. The body language of the dance varies by turns, from the iconographic, expressing reverence and the search for transcendence, to the deeply carnal, expressing voluptuousness and bodily freedom through wide and powerful movements. With the Chœur Régional Vittoria d’Île-de-France chorus, conducted by Michel Piquemal.
