Italian street art duo Sten Lex are best known for their unique halftoned stencil work that blends muralism and op art. They often find the inspiration for their work in anonymous subjects from old family albums or street captures.
Their "stencil poster" technique involves glueing a paper stencil to a supporting surface and painting over it. The artists then destroy the initial matrix and apply the remains to the wall — allowing the work to change as time goes by.
For their visit to Nuart in 2010, the duo employed their "stencil poster" style to create a monumental portrait of an aging female figure.
