Miswak or siwak are twigs made of the tooth-brush tree, an evergreen desert shrub. They are used to cleanse the teeth and mouth. Tooth-brush trees are widespread in the Arab Peninsula. Miswak can be also made of other trees like olive or Arabian balsam.
