Up to now, maki-e forms had taken the name of the region where they developed, such as Edo maki-e, Kyoto maki-e, and Kaga maki-e. But those names are less and less expressing the actual place where the lacquer craftsman lives. The tenth generational head of the Akatsuka style of Edo maki-e, Mitamura Arisumi, set up a new workshop in Ogawa Town of Saitama Prefecture in 2013.
