While at Tule Lake, Mitsuye Endo (1920-2006) agreed to be a plaintiff in a lawsuit challenging her imprisonment. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in her favor in December 1944, leading to the closing of the incarceration camps and the return of Japanese Americans to the West Coast.
