The installation proposes to explore the potential offered by the penetration of communication technologies in African cities. It investigates the potential of crowdsourcing urban data through commonly used platforms (e.g. social media and apps freely available on smartphones). In this way, the exhibition will show different types of data produced by “human sensors” in a process that Michael Goodchild has coined as “Volunteered Geographic Information” (VGI). These data are materialized in the form of georeferenced images, video, and audio in a continuous flow during the entire period of the Biennale, coming from the entire continent.
