Model, "Electric-powered tricycle for the mail collection service in Bavaria"

As early as 1900, the Bavarian postal administration was considering putting an electric vehicle into service on a trial basis. Electric vehicles were particularly advantageous on short trips and with small transport loads. The vehicle, built as a tricycle by the company "Elektrizitäts-Aktiengesellschaft," formerly "Schuckert & Co." in Nuremberg, was delivered in 1901 for practical testing at no cost and used at Post Office 1 in Munich to empty mailboxes. Even though the tricycle had proved itself on a trial basis, in was ascertained in 1903 that it was not economically viable to equip the letter collection service with this type of vehicle.
