The Bhatia community is believed to spread from Gujarat to Punjab. The women wear a sari, in the front-pally style that is commonly associated with Gujarat, Rajasthan, Central India - Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The same style of draping an Odhni or dupatta along with a choli and lehenga/ ghagras is also seen in Gujarat, Central and Northern India. In the model, the sari seems heavily brocaded because the clay maker has given a gold sheen to the entire sari. The man wears a four-part ensemble - A headgear that looks similar to the ones in the photograph, a tunic which could either be worn with an inner garment (in which case this becomes a 5-part ensemble) or be a three panel tunic where the inner layer joins the shoulders. Unlike an Angarakha, this is front open. A scarf goes around the shoulder and has a likely-woven border to it, and a dhoti - unlike the Bengali style seen earlier - with also a slim woven border along its warp selvedges.
