With this pair of models, we may be seeing an archetype for clothing among Hindus in the broad Maharashtra-Deccan region. The women wear dark-coloured saris, which even thought are painted black here, may most likely be a dark indigo associated with certain sari-styles like the Paithani in the deccan. In this we see a style of draping the sari similar to the Deccan Brahmin woman, except that she takes the pally end of the sari above her head. Her blouse seems to be a woven variety of fabric. The men wears white cotton ensembles with a red headdress.
