Originally a 418,610DWT ULCC built by Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Japan in 1976 as the Porthos. Renamed Oppama 1976 and sold in 1979 to CY Tung to be 'jumbo-ized' by adding an 81.3m section amidships making her the largest ship in the world. After 31 years' service including being bombed and then rebuilt 1988-1991 and service as a floating storage unit 2004-2010, she was broken up in India.
At over 458 metres in length, this vessel is longer than Hong Kong's Two International Finance Centre is tall. While she can carry over 4.1 million barrels of oil, her enormous size limits her employment, as she is too big for the Suez Canal and Panama Canal and she cannot enter any north European port.
